Subtitle translator

Subtitle translator for SRT, VTT, ASS and more: drop a subtitle file, pick a language, and download it translated with the timings unchanged.

Free, no sign-up, and the timings stay the same.

Up to 5,000 lines and 2 MB of text per file.

This subtitle translator keeps the file whole as well as the meaning: the same number of subtitles, the same timings, nothing merged or dropped. To translate subs, pick one of about 100 languages: each translated line keeps its place, so the new file plays in sync with the video straight away. It downloads in the format you dropped, or in another one if you pick it, and the subtitle editor can fix any line afterwards.

Questions

Can I translate subs into another language?

Yes. Drop the subtitle file above, pick one of about 100 languages, and download the translated subs with every line at its original time.

Which subtitle formats can I translate?

Every format the subtitle converter reads: SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SBV, SUB, SMI, TTML and more. The translation comes back in the same format unless you choose another.

Do the timings or the styling change?

No. Every subtitle keeps its start and end time, and tags such as italics or an on-screen position stay on their lines. If a line can't be translated, it's left as it was, and the page tells you how many lines that happened to.

Can I have both languages on screen?

Yes. Choose "Original and translation in one file" and each subtitle shows both languages, one above the other. Dual subtitles does the same with two files you already have.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account, and it uses none of your transcription minutes. A file can hold up to 5,000 lines and 2 MB of text, enough for about three feature films.
