MKV to SRT
MKV to SRT in one drop: extract subtitles from MKV files by picking the track inside, or transcribe the speech when there isn't one.
Transcription is free within your daily minutes
It uses your free daily minutes, and you confirm before it starts. A subtitle file dropped here is converted instead.

Read as — change it
The preview below re-renders as soon as you change this.
This format stores times as frame numbers, so it has no meaning without a rate. We don't guess one.

Choose EUC-KR if an older TV or player shows broken Korean characters. EUC-KR can't hold some characters, like emoji, and you'll see how many before you download.
An MKV can carry several subtitle tracks: languages, SDH, commentary. Drop the file and they're listed with their names and languages. A text track comes out exactly as stored, and image tracks from Blu-ray (PGS) and DVD (VobSub) are turned into text. MKVToolNix does the same job on a computer where you can install software; this needs only a browser.
Questions
How do I extract subtitles from an MKV file?
Drop the .mkv above, pick the track and save the SRT.
Can I keep the styling of an ASS track?
This page saves SRT, which has no styling. Extract subtitles saves the same track as ASS with its styles intact.
The track says "image subtitles". What then?
Pick it and it opens in SUP to SRT or IDX/SUB to SRT, which read the pictures as text.
