This conversation translator is for two people who don't share a language, talking face to face. Set a language on each half of the screen and put the phone on the table between you. When it's your turn, tap the microphone on your side and speak: the translation appears on the other half and can be read aloud. On a phone, Face to face turns the top half around, so the person opposite reads it the right way up.

Is the conversation translator free?
Yes, with no app and no sign-up. Open the page on the phone you'll put between you and start talking.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, and a phone is the easiest way to use it, lying flat on the table between you. Chrome on Android works best and Safari on iPhone works too; allow the microphone when the browser asks. On a computer, turn the screen so both of you can see it.
Which languages does it support?
Any two of these 20: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Arabic, Russian, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Thai and Ukrainian. If a phone can't read one of them aloud, that side still shows the translation as text.
Can two people use it?
Yes, it opens ready for two: one half of the screen each, with its own microphone button and language. Only one microphone listens at a time, so tap yours when it's your turn. If you share a language but one of you has trouble hearing, live captions puts what's said on screen in large text.
Can I save the conversation?
Yes, as text. Download .txt keeps both sides of the conversation, each in both languages, and Clear empties the screen when you're done. The audio isn't saved.
