FLAC keeps every detail of the sound, which is why its files are big. CD-quality stereo FLAC reaches the 95 MB limit after roughly 15 to 20 minutes, a mono recording after about twice that. For anything longer, save a copy as MP3 first. The transcript comes out much the same either way.

Questions

How do I convert FLAC to text?

Drop the .flac above, then copy the text or download TXT, SRT or VTT.

My FLAC is over 95 MB. What now?

Save it as MP3 at 128 kbps in any audio editor. An hour of speech comes to about 58 MB, which fits.

Does a lossless file transcribe better?

Not noticeably. An MP3 of the same recording transcribes about as well.
