This live translator keeps up with a conversation: each sentence is translated as soon as you finish saying it, then shown in large text and, if you like, read aloud. Choose the two languages, press the microphone and talk, and press the swap button when the other person replies. Conversation is one tap away and gives each of you half the screen, with your own language and microphone button. To get your words typed out in the language you speak, without a translation, use speech to text.
Questions
Is this live translator free?
Yes. There's nothing to install and no account to create; open it in the browser on your phone or computer.
Does live translation work on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone, allow the microphone, and talk; there's no app to download. Chrome works best, on phones and on computers.
Which languages does it support?
Twenty, in any pair: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Arabic, Russian, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Thai and Ukrainian. Each person picks their own, so a Korean speaker can talk with a Spanish speaker.
Can two people use it?
Yes. Tap Conversation and the screen splits in two, one half per person, each with its own language and microphone button. Only one microphone listens at a time, so you take turns, and each translation shows up on the other person's side, where it can be read aloud. On a phone, Face to face turns the top half around for whoever sits across from you.
Can I save the conversation?
Yes, as a text file. Download .txt saves the whole session, what was said and its translation, and Copy puts it on your clipboard. Nothing is kept as audio.
