Free transcription usually means a trial behind a sign-up form. Here there's no account at all: you get free minutes every day, and the meter shows how many are left. Audio files, video files and links from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and eight other sites all work, in any spoken language.
Questions
Is it really free with no sign-up?
Yes. There's no account, no card and no trial. Transcription is free up to a daily limit counted in minutes, and videos that already have captions, like most on YouTube, don't use any minutes.
How is this different from TurboScribe or Otter?
Otter asks you to create an account before you transcribe, and this site doesn't. TurboScribe's free plan works without an account too, but it stops at three files a day of up to 30 minutes each, where one file here can run to 90 minutes. Otter can join your Zoom, Meet or Teams calls by itself, which this site can't. The TurboScribe alternative and Otter AI alternative pages compare them in detail.
What can I transcribe?
Audio files (MP3, WAV, M4A and more), video files (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM), links from eleven sites, and recordings you make on this page.
How long can a file be?
Up to 90 minutes per file, as long as the audio fits in 95 MB.
Which languages does it support?
The spoken language is detected automatically, in close to a hundred languages. Of those, 78 have a page of their own, listed under transcription by language.
