Transcription is free within your daily minutes
Live typing isn't available in this browser. Record instead.
Live works best for your own voice, close to the mic. For a song, a video or a meeting, use Record.
Live typing uses none of your daily minutes.
Prefer to record, then transcribe?
left. Recording stops by itself at 90 minutes.
Keep this page open and your screen on while recording.
Transcribing the recording uses your free daily minutes.
The microphone needs JavaScript. To transcribe a file you already have, use Audio to text.
Voice typing is quicker than typing for most people, and it's handy for long emails, notes and first drafts. Press the microphone, speak at a normal pace, and fix the text as it comes in. When you're done, copy it into your email, document or chat.
Questions
How do I start voice typing?
Press the microphone button and allow microphone access when your browser asks. Then talk, and the words appear in the box as you speak.
Is this the same as talk to text?
Yes. Talk to text, speech to text and voice typing all mean speaking and getting written words back, and that's what this page does.
Does voice typing add punctuation?
Not reliably. Some browsers add a little, so plan to fix commas and periods when you edit.
Which browsers support voice typing?
Chrome, Edge and Safari. Firefox doesn't have it; there, use voice to text, where you record first and then get the text.
Is it free?
Yes, completely, with no account, and it doesn't use any of the site's daily minutes.
