What changes when you convert VTT to SRT
Not everything survives the trip. Converting VTT to SRT drops or flattens the following:
- Speaker names — this format has nowhere to put them.
- Ruby and pinyin annotations — they have nowhere to go here.
- Cue class names — they are not carried over.
- Line and position settings — they are not carried over.
- On-screen positions — this format always centres at the bottom.
- Regions — they are not carried over.
- Cue width settings — they are not carried over.
- Vertical writing — it becomes horizontal.
- Per-word timings — this format times whole lines only.
